I have finally finished a

I have finally finished a tutorial on slashing spraying and baking loaves.

(It has taken a while because I have been busy at work, and also had the frustrating experience of losing half of it to a computer gremlin)

That completes the series of 5 basic tutorials on sourdough baking, but I still am hoping to write a couple of shorter ones on sourdough timetables and recipes.
The tutorials are:

How to make your own starter.

How to use short kneads to handle moist doughs and bake a loaf with a yeast-based preferment.

The subtleties of proving a loaf using a ‘biga’.

How to shape a loaf using a hybrid recipe.

The final crucial steps and putting it all together to bake a 100% sourdough loaf.

cheers

Welcome tyro! Maedi is in the midst of shifting files from our blogs over to the forum. Oh, Maedi........!

Baking bread is an amazing journey. Speaking from my own experience, I wouldn't have known there was so much to learn about bread. I'm still learning.

Enjoy your stay.

Hi - that was July 2007...

Hi - that was July 2007...
now March 2008, I'm getting 403 Forbidden errors from *all* the links above - like this:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /2006/06/30/beginners-blog-a-starter-from-scratch/ on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

... which, to say the least, is a great pity.

Update

Have no fear dougal, this thread is a little out of date. Dom's tutorials can now be found here.
